CHANGING THE WAY YOU INSPECT METALS AND METAL PARTS

With increasing competition, your company–your future–depends on consistently manufacturing metal parts at greater speeds and with uncompromised quality. And you have to do so with less resources.

That's why SE Systems, Inc. developed smartEDDY–the superior way to inspect metals and metal parts. This nondestructive, contact free, fast, flexible and accurate eddy current testing technology not only enables you to achieve "100% inspection" capability, it helps you stay competitive well into the 21st century.

About smartEDDY

smartEDDY works as an inspection instrument, a measurement instrument or an imaging system. This computer-based, fully-automated instrument works in-line communicating with production line control systems while providing quality records. It can also work off-line in the quality laboratory or in the field providing non-destructive testing, failure analysis and data. smartEDDY is made in the USA.

Applications include: fasteners, assemblies, weldments, stampings, forged and extruded parts, continuous product, castings, metal parts, equipment, powder metallurgy and heat exchangers.

Inspections include: material discontinuities, heat treatment, dimensions, material composition, surface preparations, flaw detection, defect detection, failure analysis and missing operations.

smartEDDY inspection systems consist of three elements:
smartEDDY test instrument, including Embedded, Industrial and Laboratory instruments.
Eddy-current sensor, including surface, encircling and bobbin sensors.
Parts handling system, including in-line and stand-alone machines.
The first two elements are provided by SE Systems while the parts handling system can be provided either by SE Systems or the customer.

SE's Embedded instruments are designed for automatic industrial applications where transparent operation with little or no operator interaction is desired. The Industrial instruments are for industrial applications where selected operator control is desired, while the Laboratory instruments are for application where full operator control is desired.

About Eddy Current Testing

Eddy-current testing is one of five major non-destructive testing technologies. Testing is performed by bringing a part near a test coil that is excited with radio frequency energy. The RF wave induces a local eddy-current in a conductive material. The eddy-current flow is dependent upon the local geometry, electrical and magnetic properties. By carefully analyzing the loading on the drive coil or the pick-up voltage on one or more sensing coils, the local nature of the part can be determined. This enables reliable detection of defects, accurate coating measurement, and reliable determination of alloy heat treatment and composition.

About Eddy Current Testing

smartEDDY's have provided reliable, fast and accurate inspections in over a thousand installations. At Alcoa, Goodrich, Boeing, Caterpillar, Chrysler, Delphi, Dow Chemical and Dresser Rand. At Eaton, Dupont, FMC, Sylvannia and General Electric. At Honeywell, ITT, Kaiser Aluminum, Lockheed, Martin Marietta, NASA, Nicholson Saw, and Pratt & Whitney. At Raychem, Reynolds, Standyne, and Sandvik, Teledyne, Tenneco, the TVA, Texas Instruments, 3M, TRW, and Westinghouse.

And this is just a sampling.
